French Toast
For the French Toast
Ingredients
- 8-12 thick slices of whole wheat bread/baguette
- 3 cups soy milk
- ¼ cup whole wheat flour
- 2 tbsp nutritional yeast
- 2 tsp date paste
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
Method
Whisk together all the ingredients for French toast, except the bread. Soak the bread slices in the mixture, until soft. Cook each bread slice on a skillet, until both sides are golden brown and crispy (5-7 minutes per slice). Serve warm with the syrup (recipe below).
For Syrup
Ingredients
- ⅔ cup + 2 tbsp apple/strawberry juice
- 1 cup chopped strawberries
- ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp date paste
Method
Combine ⅔ cups of juice with the strawberries and cinnamon and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and allow to simmer for 5 minutes. Add date paste to the remaining juice and simmer. Stir both juices together until they thicken. Serve hot over French toast.
