Giving the world healthy food to eat!
Nidhi Nahata, food therapist and founder of Justbe resto cafe in Bangalore, is bringing the same change to the world that SHARAN brought to her life.
My journey towards clean eating began with an epiphany three years ago. I was undergoing health issues including high cholesterol, migraine and rosacea, and I was adamant about not taking any medication to control these conditions. The 21-day health retreat conducted by SHARAN changed my perspective towards clean eating. It was interesting to learn about the profoundly beneficial effects of a whole food plant-based (WPB) diet. The fact that such an approach is also evidenced by science and research as the healthiest form of nutrition for humans made it even more convincing and compelling for me.
When I returned from the retreat with the newly acquired power of knowledge, I first changed the way food was regarded and eaten in my family. I implemented the whole food plant-based diet concept in our kitchen and saw my son’s chronic asthma being cured, my husband’s gastrointestinal issues and various other health concerns of my family members and friends being resolved. I was keen to extend this awareness to others as well. Thus was born the Justbe resto café, a SHARAN certified eatery.
I believe in the saying ‘You are what you eat’. Good and natural food not only provides for the body, but also nourishes the soul. I have replicated the same concept of healthy eating at Justbe – to serve nutritious food designed by nature for the human body and brain with no added sugar, oil and dairy, free of all refined and processed ingredients, and free of synthetic colours and preservatives. This to me is the ultimate tribute to SHARAN, which changed my life and those of my dear ones.

Simply Give!
One day a thief sought shelter in a church. The priest took him in, gave him supper and a bed to sleep. Next morning, the maid came running to the priest telling him that the silver candlesticks were stolen. Later, two policemen brought the thief with the candlesticks and enquired with the priest if they belonged to the church. The priest replied indeed and that he had actually gifted them to the thief. The embarrassed policemen went away, leaving the surprised thief behind. The priest's sentence that day changed the thief’s life – 'My son, life is to give not to take'. With this attitude, he went on to become a mayor.
Each aspect of nature only gives, with no expectations whatsoever. And, nature is healthy and radiant. If we start giving, our mindset changes, as we think less about ourselves and more about others. In turn, our life undergoes a transformation. It has been scientifically proven that giving to others affects our hormones and lifts our spirits.
Read here to find out ways in which you can simply start giving:
1. Smile
A smile is a curved line that makes everything straight! Use it with everyone. Keep smiling, it's contagious.
|
2. Apres-vous
This attitude of 'after you' is simple yet so beautiful Give way to others to move and grow. A simple example could be to just stop your car to let another vehicle or pedestrian walk by.
|
3. Materials
Give away what you don't need to others that need it. When gifting, give something worthwhile that will help another. Gift a plant instead of flowers. Gift a book instead of a toy.
|
4. Wealth
This is the easiest thing to give. It requires minimum effort.
|
5. Physical help
When you help a sick person, a neighbour to cook dinner or help your gardener in his work, it feels really good. This requires some amount of effort and is equally satisfying.
|
6. Emotional help
Be kind and considerate. You need to patiently hear someone out, be there for them, spend time and do your best to make them feel better.
|
7. Intellectual help
Education is a means to help someone become financially independent. Spirituality is a means to make someone emotionally independent. These are subtle changes and hence take more time and effort.
|
6. The best help
The best help you can actually give to society is your own development. This takes the maximum effort and yields the optimum result. When you start working on yourself, you become a source of inspiration to one and all. You are never the taker, just the giver.
