ABOUT US HEALTH PROGRAMMES RECIPES RESOURCES

From the desk of Dr Nandita Shah

As a doctor that does not practice mainstream medicine, my work has good and bad sides to it. The good side is the ability to assure results with my understanding that the body always works to heal, and all we need to do is remove the cause of diseases. If we are willing to make lifestyle changes, lifestyle diseases are largely reversible. In that sense, clinical practice is rewarding.

The bad side is that most people believe lifestyle diseases will last a lifetime. They are told this by their doctors and given medicines that only spiral up in dosage over the years. People often suffer the side effects of their medications. Often it is only when they have one foot in the grave that they are somewhat willing to make changes. For someone like me this can be distressing because I know that all the suffering is quite needless and avoidable.

Living a healthy lifestyle on a daily basis has its rewards. The food can be made delicious. One can wake up full of energy, expect to live a long life without any medicines and, most importantly, lead a meaningful existance. Why wait till its too difficult or too late?

A healthy Bharat, a disease-free India and healthy, happy Indians everywhere in the world is what we truly deserve. In association with LiveMast, we at SHARAN have initiated a satyagraha plea to our Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modiji  to go 100% plant based in 2020! Testimonial – Learnt how to reverse diabetes just by reading a book!

Forty eight year old Rajesh Shet from Udipi developed diabetes in March 2019. He was already on blood pressure medicines for the past ten years. So, he decided to take his health in his own hands and is now diabetes-free!

My wife lost her father (aged 78) due to diabetic complications two years ago.  She happened to receive a WhatsApp forward of Dr. Nandita Shah’s video from her friend and chanced upon the online version of her book ‘Reversing Diabetes in 21 Days’. She ordered the book and gifted it to me saying she wished she had read the book earlier as it would have benefited her father.

I had been following the diet as prescribed in the book since September 2019. Along with a daily exercise routine, I lost about eight kgs in five months. I was well supported by my family doctor who made sure that the tests were done every month and the medicines were gradually reduced. I was asked to take my medication on alternate days for one month, then twice a week for one month, and thereafter stopped completely. I feel great and relieved of a burden. I am much more energetic now and this has brought a lot of positivity in my life.

I have gifted this amazing book to some of my close friends and colleagues. They have read it and also tried to change their lifestyle, and seen positive results.

I am truly grateful to Dr Nandita for the inspirational book that has made me believe that diabetes can be defeated. The explanations are simple yet powerful with the personal experiences of many. I could easily relate to the situations mentioned in the book.

Time to Step Up

Detox will only be needed if we have toxins built up in our system. Take a few minutes and reflect upon how you toxify your body. Of course food plays a major role as we feed this precious body with all sorts of junk food including chemicals in the form of preservatives. Our environment can be toxic. Lethargy can be detrimental. And most importantly our negative thoughts affect our body too.

So what happens when toxins accumulate in our body? They make your body acidic. They also get stuck on the fat inside you. The main cause of most lifestyle diseases is fat. And, if that can’t be released, medicines and doctors are guaranteed to be our lifetime partners.

So do you feel you need a detox? If so, read on

1. Start your day with a green smoothie

This awesome morning magic is the best way to boost in your nutritional intake. Normally we start our day with tea and coffee that are highly acidic and include dairy and sugar too. Time to switch to the wonder of greens that cleanse your system.

2. Buy organic

We don’t want to add toxic chemicals in the form of pesticides in our body. So buy local and organic.

3. Go more raw

Try and stay raw until lunch time if you can. Feast on a platter of colorful fruits if hungry. Start your lunch and dinner with a salad in order to reduce your intake of cooked food. Even afternoon snack could be a fruit or a smoothie. Fibre from raw foods help clean your system.

4. Stop animal products

Meat and dairy are detrimental to our body as they contain high fat, high protein and no fibre. Avoid toxifying your body with dead animals and their secretions.

5. Fasting

Our body is busy digesting most of the time. Fasting gives it a break, so the energy can be used for healing. If you can fast for 16 hours and eat healthy produce for eight hours, you will be in a great state of health.

6. Exercise

Move it! Imagine a car that is not moved for days. Gets affected right? So does our body. Just do it!
