Testimonial
Mumbai based Professional baker Leena Oberoi, decided to take her health into her own hands and has experienced a world of difference.
My journey with SHARAN began on Jan 3, 2020, when I joined the Six Weeks to Health Gain and Weight Loss program. It was one drastic turn that completely changed my life. I was facing many health problems like asthma, anxiety, hair fall and spine related muscular spasms. After gaining knowledge of the whole food plant based diet and the cruelty to animals in the dairy industry, there was no looking back.
I followed the SHARAN lifestyle from that very moment and experienced many health benefits, including weight loss and increased energy levels. I could feel the difference in my skin and hair too. What I was really worried about was my chronic asthma. Then I joined the Detox program where I learnt more about raw food and the power of affirmations. With this, my asthma eased. The best part of my journey is that I have become calm and peaceful.
I encouraged my family too. My children who were hardcore non-vegetarians in the past have now adopted the vegan lifestyle. Some of the famous shows on Netflix such as What The Health, Forks over Knives and the Neal Barnard shows have been our motivation in this process. I also now bake healthy vegan cakes to promote the vegan lifestyle.
I am truly grateful to the entire SHARAN Team for their support and encouragement. They held our hand in this journey as we took baby steps. I can proudly say that “vegan is the new way of my life.” I am also grateful to my friends Urjita Parkar and Rosemary Parambi, who were with me in the 6 weeks program, for all their support and guidance. In the end I quote James Clear – ‘the ultimate purpose of habits is to solve problems of life with little energy and effort as much as possible.’
Thank you SHARAN.

Broccoli in White Sauce
Healthy food is super tasty too. Try this innovative recipe in which you make a white sauce with cauliflower!
Ingredients
- ½ medium sized cauliflower
- 250 gms broccoli, broken into florets
- ½ thinly sliced leek
- 1 tsp dried basil
- ½ tsp oregano
- 1 cup water
- salt and pepper to taste
- homemade khakhra bits to sprinkle
Method
Steam the cauliflower and blend half of it into a paste. Add salt, pepper and oregano to make ‘white sauce’. In a pan, sauté the leek until softened (add a little water if necessary). Add the white sauce, and 1 cup water and bring to boil. Add the broccoli and remaining cauliflower, season with basil. Take it off the hob once the sauce is a little thick and the broccoli tender. Solutions to women’s ailments
Women’s ailments, such as PMS, PCOD, hot flushes, menopausal issues, menstrual problems, infertility, breast cancer and ovarian cancer are the result of our current lifestyle. Read about how these problems can be avoided or minimised through a switch to whole plant-based nutrition.
1.Early puberty
Early puberty is far too common these days and can be dealt with by avoiding the hormones in dairy. Milk contains growth hormones, and oxytocin resulting in this problem.
|
2. PMS
PMS, hot flushes, and menopausal issues are extremely rare in women who are on a plant-based diet for a period of time. Although the results are not immediate, changing to a plant-based diet results in long term relief from hormonal fluctuations.
|
3. Infertility
Infertility was not a major problem in India in the past. As we eat more animal products we have more hormonal issues like infertility. The converse is also true, that switching to a healthy plant based diet can often solve this problem.
|
4. PCOD
PCOD is an issue for so many young girls. Animal products including dairy contain fat without fibre. The excess fat stays in the body and holds onto hormones resulting in imbalances.
|
5. Breast cancer
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women. This is often a hormone -dependent cancer and the hormones, oestrogen and progesterone that this cancer depends on, build-up in our body; thanks to the dairy in our diets as well as other animal products.
|
6. Mood swings
PMS and mood swings can be a thing of the past with phytonutrients of all the colours of the rainbow from fruits and vegetables instead of animal products.
|
7. Hormonal issues
Hormonal issues have often been linked to phytoestrogens in soya. Cruciferous vegetables like cabbage and broccoli are implicated in hypothyroidism. Don’t get fooled! These plant based foods are quite innocuous.
