From the desk of Dr Nandita Shah

Worldwide breast cancer is one of the commonest forms of cancer in women. So common that some women including Angelina Jolie have had bilateral risk reducing mastectomies done as a preventive!

While this may sound extreme, the need for breast cancer prevention cannot be understated. The very best way of prevention of breast cancer or any disease for that matter is to avoid the causes of that disease in our lives, as well as being aware of the early symptoms of that disease so that one can take quick action if necessary.

Since this form of cancer has been so common, there are also many women who have reversed it only through natural means. Notable amongst them are Dr Lorraine Day, especially since she is a medical doctor, and Dr Ruth Heidrich who dealt with Grade 4 cancers. I am glad to personally know Nisha Koiri, who not only reversed it but also has made it her life purpose to spread awareness on natural healing. One thing is for sure, it’s worth making dietary and lifestyle changes now to prevent or as the best means to recover from breast cancer.

Our free events are designed to help you stay on track. Together we can take care of our own health and the environment. Do join us for them, and if you cannot make it, you can enjoy the recording. To know what’s coming up next, click here

Causes of breast cancer

Breast cancer is more common in women but not unknown in men. Everyone can make sure to avoid these causes of breast cancer

1. Oestrogen and Progesterone

These can be found in oral contraceptives, hormone replacement therapy and especially in dairy. Dairy is naturally filled with these breast cancer promoting hormones and is one of the leading causes of breast cancer.

2. Growth hormones and IGF

Milk is the fluid for growth so it’s filled with these hormones. So is all dairy. And growth hormones may also be given to animals in our food chain that are slaughtered for meat.

3. Chemicals

Many chemicals are carcinogens. Chemicals are found in packaged foods and non-organic foods, in personal care products – medicines, toothpaste, soaps, shampoos, hair dyes, lotions, perfumes, cosmetics, deodorants, hand-sanitizers etc. can all be a source of chemicals entering our body. Chemicals in home care products – air fresheners, mosquito repellents, incense, detergents, fabric softeners, surface cleaners; may enter our body through inhalation or touch. And then there are the chemicals in our polluted air and environment.

4. Plastics

Bottled water, packaged foods, plastic containers all allow the chemicals in the plastic to leach into the foods.

5. Excess Fat

Excess fat on our body attracts cancer. It also blocks arteries reducing vital oxygen making the environment more suitable for cancer cells than normal cells.

6. Acidity

Cancer cells thrive in an acidic environment. Tea, coffee, colas, smoking, alcohol, sugar, vinegar, packaged foods all lend to an acid environment in our body. So do protein powders and high protein foods.

7. Excess Protein

Protein is the food for growth and cancer is a growth. There is a connection. The milk protein, casein is a known carcinogen.

8. Radiation

Too many X Rays and other forms of radiation cause cancer.

9. Emotions

It is well know that resentment and anger promote cancers. So do other negative emotions. Our moods are controlled by hormones and chemicals. Animals, too, have the same emotional messengers, which mean that when we consume animals we also are consuming their stress hormones. Note the relaxation that you feel once you stop consuming animal products.
