From the desk of Dr Nandita Shah

Today, 14th November is World Diabetes Day. The reason that a special day has been designated to diabetes is because this lifestyle disease has become so common and is seen at younger ages than ever before.

Most doctors and patients regard diabetes as a life sentence. I believe that any disease is a path to personal growth. Our body produces symptoms in order to tell us to change something. Symptoms guide us to make changes in our life towards health. Disease reversal requires a shift in consciousness.

Type 2 Diabetes is preventable, and for those who already have it, it is also reversible. I’m proud to say that my new book Reversing Diabetes in 21 Days is being released today. It gives step-by-step guidance on exactly how to change habits to become diabetes proof! If we all work together to get rid of diabetes, we can make World Diabetes Day a thing of the past!

Dr Nandita Shah’s new book Reversing Diabetes in 21 Days aptly releases today – The World Diabetes Day. This is yet another step in SHARAN’s mission of a Diabetes-Free India. To get your copy, click here

Testimonial of Kalpana Shah

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txmmzsEzRYs

Kalpana Shah or Kala as she likes to be called had diabetes, high BP and chronic kidney disease and as a result of these, she had swellings in her feet which resulted in difficulty in walking. Kala came all the way from the UK for our Sept 2016 21-day Health Retreat and improved dramatically during that time. We were able to reduce medicines and insulin to a large extent. But more importantly she and her husband persisted and got better and better after the program. The testimonial above is of the end of the program. Her husband recently (June 2017) sent a short clip about her transformation too.

Coconut Pineapple Smoothie Ice-cream

Diabetics are often asked to stop having most fruits, but Nature intends otherwise. When you follow the whole plant based diet that SHARAN prescribes you can eat as many bananas, mangos, pineapples, melons you want!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup coconut water

  • 1 banana, frozen for a thicker consistency

  • 1 1/2 cups frozen pineapple, roughly chopped into large chunks

  • Dash of ground ginger

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Method

Layer ingredients into the blender and puree until smooth and creamy. With the blender turned off, use a spatula to scrape the sides as needed. Scoop into glasses or bowls and serve immediately. Enjoy!

Diabetes is Reversible

Diabetes like most lifestyle diseases is reversible, just by changing the lifestyle. In order to get rid of any problem, we should think about the cause of the problem and remove it. While most people are told to stop sugar, and carbohydrates, the truth is no one gets well from this advice. Read on to understand some of the changes that you can make to prevent and reverse type 2 diabetes and to greatly improve type 1 diabetes.

You will see the results on your glucometer when you make these changes…

1. Start the day with green smoothies and fruit

Interestingly you can eat any fruit, even in large quantities, and yet not see your blood sugar rise.

2. Eat plenty of organic vegetables

Fruits and vegetables are high sources of phyto nutrients. Nutrients are the spare parts for healing.

3. Eat whole grains and beans

These fill you up without raising your blood sugar.

4. Eat for fibre

Fibre cleans our body, and provides bulk. Animal products are completely devoid of fibre. Plants contain a lot of fibre. Avoid refined and packaged  products where the fibre has been removed.

5. Consume organic foods

Pesticides are known to cause diabetes.

6. Avoid fat

Fat is found in oil, ghee, butter, as well as all animal products including dairy. Avoid fried foods, and cooking with fat. Avoid all animal products.

7. Avoid dairy

Dairy contains a host of elements that promote diabetes. Like all animal products, dairy contains fat without fibre. Being the natural secretion of a lactating female mammal, it’s also flooded with hormones that disturb the hormonal balance in our body. Since diabetes is a hormonal problem, avoiding dairy completely goes a long way in reversing diabetes.

8. Avoid tea, coffee, colas and addictive substances

Tea coffee and colas raise the blood sugar.

9. Avoid artificial sweeteners

They never help reverse diabetes but are harmful in other ways. The best sweeteners are dates and raisins. Yes, these are allowed.

10. Make sure vitamin D levels are normal

Low vitamin levels can cause diabetes. Supplementation may be required.

11. Exercise, go to bed early, and minimise stress.

SHARAN has a variety of ways to help you get rid of diabetes. We have a 21 day online program, we have seminars in Indian metros, London and Dubai. We have consultations that are done on phone and Skype so that we can help anyone anywhere. We have cooking classes, a new book, etc.. Don’t wait to disease proof yourself!
