I have been suffering from chronic migraine with a genetic, hormonal and hereditary type, since the age of 13. I was on mutiple medicines. When I turned 40 a few months back, I was struggling to cope with the headaches, a stressful profession, and fluctuations in weight. I was referred to SHARAN by my friend and a senior doctor. I heard Dr Nandita Shah on YouTube. Her talk really inspired me to take my first step towards self-healing, and I enrolled into the Six Weeks to Health & Weight Loss program in Mumbai.
In this course, we were exposed to the hazards of milk and non vegetarian food. The information I was provided was logical and evidence based. As a vegetarian, milk was a daily must-have for me. Slowly, but completely, I did away with milk even though I was addicted to tea and coffee. However, the green smoothies – I can vouch for them – proved miraculous.
The organizers Reyna and team were really helpful, humble and very motivating. Now I am a proud vegan, a choice that has radically changed my outlook towards life. I have lost weight, experience significantly lesser attacks of headache and enjoy high energy levels at work. I am at peace internally, which reflects in my day to day communication. Malai Peda
Those with a sweet-tooth fret not, the whole plant based diet takes care of that too. Try out these pedas that can be made in minutes, with no dairy or sugar, to make for a delicious indulgence.
Ingredients:

1/4 cup almond flour
-
1/4 cup cashew flour
-
2-3 tbsp desiccated coconut/ dried coconut
-
3 tbsp extra firm tofu, crumbled
-
3 – 4 tbsp dry dates powder
-
1/4 tsp cardamom powder
-
2-3 tsp non dairy milk if needed
-
2 tbsp date paste
-
a pinch salt
Method:
Mix the almond flour, cashew flour, desiccated coconut, tofu, dry dates powder, salt and cardamom. Add the date paste and roll into small balls. If the mixture does not bind enough, add non-dairy milk and knead into tiny balls. This can be consumed as is or baked at 180 degrees C for 5-6 minutes..

Mobile Mania
Electromagnetic radiation – this is the problem with mobile phones. These fields emitted by mobile phones are 1,000 times higher than from base stations, resulting in health effects that we need to seriously start acknowledging. In May 2011, the World Health Organisation (WHO) classified RF radiation as 'possible carcinogenic for humans, based on an increased risk of glioma, a type of brain cancer'. This is because radiation causes heat and when you consistently hold a mobile phone against your ear, it can overheat body tissues and cause damage.
Scientists have reported changes in brain activity, reaction times and sleep patterns due to the over use of mobile phones. Children are also at a greater risk of being affected by the radiation as their nervous systems are still in the development stage. A group of students in the age group of 17 to 23 years from both urban and rural backgrounds were monitored for their mobile phone activity and the commonest symptoms found were headaches followed by irritability and anger, lack of concentration, poor academic performance, insomnia, anxiety, body aches, eye sores. In adults, some of the other effects include heart issues, infertility (men), hearing impairment, eye problems, skin allergies, infections and stress. Not to mention the social disconnect and rise in road accidents.
Find out ways that can help you ease out your mobile phone usage:
1. Choose the right mobile phone
It's important that we take a few minutes to understand the gadget we use. Its best to chose a model that has a low specific absorption rate, which refers to the amount of radiation absorbed by body tissues

2. Use a landline wherever possible

3. Minimise your talks – Meet in person!

4. Keep away from the body
Put the phone away in your purse or briefcase, not in your pocket.

5. Take regular eye breaks
Increase the font size and keep the screen clean.

6. Set some rules
Avoid mobile phones in the car, at meal times, in the washrooms, at parties or outings, from 8pm to 8am or during the weekend!

7. Keep the phone far away from where you sleep

8. Go on a mobile free holiday
Leave it at home! Give your hotel numbers to your staff or family and they will contact you if needed
